What are we looking for?

Lava Lamp publishes creative non-fiction writing in all its forms. Genres include, but are not limited to: immersive journalism, personal essays, travel writing, profile pieces, nature writing, news features, photo essays, and commentary.

We welcome writing from current AUBG students, but if an alum wrote a piece as a student, we would love to read it!

We accept near-finished stories and high-quality first drafts, though we'll also accept short pitches. If you choose to submit a pitch, please make sure to include details from your reporting so far, potential scenes, and sources/characters.

All texts go through a blind review process before being accepted. Submissions are open year-round.
